See the key at the bottom of the slide. • Amend – v. • Apathy – n. • Appease – v. • Astute – adj. • Abhor – v. V. = verb n. = noun Adj = adjective

  2. SAT Vocabulary 1 Check your definitions against mine. They do not have to be exactly the same word for word. • Amend – verb. To correct; to improve; to change or revise. • Apathy – noun. Lack of emotion; lack of interest; indifference. • Appease – verb. To pacify, quiet, or satisfy, especially by giving into demands. • Astute – adjective. Clever or shrewd (sharp). • Abhor – verb. To shrink from in disgust, hatred, etc. Detest. V. = verb n. = noun Adj = adjective

  3. SAT Vocabulary 1 Create sentences for your SAT vocabulary terms. Underline the vocabulary term in each sentence. Try to create sentences that tell a story. I have provided you with the first sentence to get you started. We will share a few examples TOMORROW! 1. I could tell she was acting. • This really did not appease me because I was being stubborn. • After abhorring each other for a long time, I started to realize what I did wrong. • Now that we have apologized to each other, we are an astute pair.
