1. God Owns it All
  • “You are not your own; you were bought at a price.” (I Cor. 6:20)
  • “The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it…” (Psalm 24:1)
  • “But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth…” (Duet 8:18)
god owns it all implications
God Owns it All - Implications
  • If God owns it all, then we have a responsibility to Him.
  • If God own it all, then every spending decision is a spiritual decision.
  • If God owns it all, then it is impossible to fake stewardship. Our checkbooks reflects our goals, priorities, convictions, relationships, and even the use of your time.”

  • Bad News:“Naked a man comes from his mother's womb, and as he comes, so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand…he toils for the wind.” (Eccl 5:15)
  • Good News: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy … But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)
  • Giving isn’t God’s way of raising funds; it is His ways of raising children whose hearts are rich toward Him.
3 value god more than money
3. Value God more than Money
  • Faithful giving is motivated by a desire to worship God.
  • Paul says: “fragrant offering,” “acceptable sacrifice”, and “pleasing to God”
  • Paul’s definition of worship: Rom. 12: 1-2
  • Worship is a lifestyle, not a song.
  • All of life is an act of worship.
giving as an act of worship
Giving As An Act of Worship
  • With this offering, I am declaring my total dependence and trust in you
  • With this offering, I am resisting everything in our culture that constantly whispers in my ear that I need more and more
  • With this offering, I am affirming my heart belongs to God.
4 engage your heart and expect god to provide
4. Engage your heart and expect God to provide
  • The source of the promise is our God with whom we are in union in Christ Jesus - My God,” “in Christ Jesus.”
  • The sufficiency of the promise is the riches of God for all my needs.
  • The certainty of the promise depends on God Himself – My God
conclusion
Conclusion
  • No more accurate gauge of your spiritual life than your giving to the Lord’s work
  • “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also” (Matt. 6:21).
  • Will you trust the living God who gave His Son for you by giving generously, out of a heart of love, and worship?
