Guidelines for Proper Quotation Format in Writing

DESCRIPTION

This guide outlines essential rules for quoting individuals correctly in written communication. Always introduce a person by their full name and title on first reference, and use only the last name subsequently. Quotes must be presented in separate paragraphs, with "said" positioned after the person's name. The examples illustrate improper quote structures, emphasizing the need for clarity and background context. Adhering to these guidelines improves the professionalism and comprehensibility of your writing.

  6. Answers “I’m going to press charges in whatever way I can because that was my prized rose garden,” Schwartze said. A transition is needed between these two quotes. The transition should be background information. “If she’s going to press charges on me for running over her dead rose garden then so be it,” McDoogel said.
