UC/CSU Admission Requirements • “a-g” Subject Requirement - specifies the 15 year-long academic courses you must complete in high school. • Examination Requirement - specifies the college admissions tests you must take. • Eligibility Requirement - is the combination of GPA and standardized test scores you must attain.

  3. “a-g” Subject Requirement • UC and CSU have the same course list. This can be found at https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu • La Salle’s graduation requirements are more stringent than the UC/CSU’s “a-g” subject requirements.

  4. Examination Requirement • CSU – either the SAT or ACT (Writing portion not required) • UC – either the SAT or ACT (with Writing). SAT Subject Tests are no longer required. However, they are still strongly recommended for students applying as math & science majors

  5. Eligibility Requirement • UC and CSU will recalculate the student’s GPA in the same manner. • GPA is based on UC/CSU approved courses taken during the student’s 10th and 11th grades. • An “A” is worth 4 points, a “B” is worth 3 points, and so forth. • Pluses and Minuses are not counted. • Extra point for approved H and AP courses (up to 8 points)

  8. Eligibility Requirement (3) UC: • Either be in the top 9% of La Salle’s senior class (ELC) or based on a combination of GPA at or above a 3.0 and SAT or ACT (with Writing) score. • All students with a 3.0 GPA or higher will be considered for admission.

  9. What does being CSU eligible mean? • If your student is CSU eligible, they will be accepted at our “local” CSUs: - Los Angeles and Northridge (may change) • Otherwise, he or she “should” be accepted at any of the non-impacted CSUs: • Bakersfield • Channel Islands • Dominguez Hills • East Bay • Maritime • Stanislaus

  10. What does being CSU eligible mean? (2) • The remaining CSU campuses are currently impacted (higher admission criteria than CSU eligibility): • Chico • Fresno • Fullerton • Humboldt • Long Beach • Monterey Bay • Pomona • Sacramento • San Bernardino • San Diego • San Francisco • San Jose • San Luis Obispo • San Marcos • Sonoma

  11. What does being UC eligible mean? • If your student is UC eligible, then he/she is highly likely to be accepted at UC Merced. • UC Merced started denying students with > 3.0 UC GPA last year. • The other UCs are more selective. The more selective UCs will not accept all UC eligible students.
