  4. Legalism Colossians 2:16-17 Legalism Man made standards of righteousness – Can easily develop from good precautions & traditions We are not to judge or be judged by our diet or observance of days - Romans 14:17; 1 Timothy 4:1-5

  5. Legalism Colossians 2:16-17 Licentiousness - ignoring God’s standards of righteousness - is just as dangerous as legalism We must not be assimilated by society, but must learn to obey our Lord (Mt. 28:19-20)

A Fleshy Mind - Religious Pride Colossians 2:18 The Corinthians thought they were spiritual, but were actually fleshy There will always be those who feign humility & spiritual piety but in reality are proud and carnal. Such people eventually cause division in the body over minor issues - Beware of them - Romans 16:17

  14. The Superiority of Christ Colossians 2:19 The body is controlled and directed by the head John 15 - Jesus is the vine, we are the branches. We must abide in Him We know the true teachers from the false ones by their fruit - of lack of it (1 John 3:7-10)
