  1. Kersley Elementary – Beyond Green! Green Initiatives for 2010-2011

  2. Bottle Drop-off Station • With the help of parent and community volunteers, a bottle drop off station was constructed in September 2010.

  3. Students help sort the bottles and cans in the bottle drop off.

  4. Through this initiative, we have recycled over 10,000 beverage containers.

  5. Composting • All students and staff participate in the composting program. Buckets are emptied daily.

  6. Lights Out! • Sections of lighting in the hallway at our school are left out all day, and all lights are turned off when a room is not in use.

  7. Bins, bins, and more bins! • Our hallway is lined with bins to collect plastic, office paper, pop can tabs, cardboard, computer printer cartridges, and beverage containers.

  8. Used books • Books for the library are often new, but when possible, used books in near new condition are purchased. • Students had a book exchange table at our Read-A-Rama. All students traded their gently used books for a “new-to-them” book.

  9. Beyond Green • As you can see, the Kersley community, students and staff are working together to make Kersley even greener!
