  3. Phenomenological Approach There are many different approaches to understanding personality, but the dominant approach used today is the phenomenological approach. The main ideas promoted by this approach include: Taking into account both people’s personal characteristics and the situations they are faced with, as well as focusing on how that person perceives the world around them. “You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them” – Michael Jordan “Miracle”-

  5. Psychological Testing for Personality There are many ways to measure and classify personalities, however the tests much be appropriate and ethical. • Common ones include • Briggs-Meyer Type Indicator • 16PF Questionnaire • Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis • Sport specific tests
