  1. RMIB GERB Processing status S. Dewitte Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  2. Overview • Operational processing. • Product quality status. • Data release plan. GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  3. Operational processing • GERB/SEVIRI processing ongoing except during data outages. • GERB/MS7A processing stopped begin July. GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  4. Geolocation • No change in near real-time geolocation. • Geolocation per 5’ saved in ‘G2L15G’ files. GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  5. Calibration • Operational processing still uses old spectral response: SW calibration OK but scene dependent GERB/CERES ratio. • One day tests for interim and reprocessed spectral response: GERB SW 12% too high compared to CERES. • To be discussed: cross-calibrate GERB SW with CERES SW ? GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  6. Unfiltering • Improved correction for LOS non repeatability error on daytime LW implemented, but not yet activated. • New spectral data base under construction (see presentation Nicolas). GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  7. Cloud detection • Cloud detection in sun-glint region improved (see presentation Alessandro). • TBD improvement near terminator (see presentation Alessandro). GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  8. Thermal fluxes • Night time LW fluxes: empirical correction to theoretical ADM’s defined from comparison with CERES (see presentation Steven) • Day time LW fluxes: additional correction needed over desert (see presentation Steven) GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  9. Solar fluxes • CERES SW ADM adjustments understood, to be implemented (see presentation Cedric) • Fluxes to be validated by comparison with CERES from Jan-Jun 2004. GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  10. Flagging • NANRG flags to be used to remove data affected by sunglint and quartz filter anomaly. • Flags to be defined for LOS non repeatability correction. GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004

  11. Data release plan • All mentioned changes to be implemented in parallel by end of 2004. • Validation of changes in Jan 2005. • ARG data release: end Jan 2005. • Reprocessing of data back to June 2003 ended in July 2005. GIST, Brussels, 08-10/11/2004
