  5. Early Signs/Symptoms Moody Always thinking and talking about food Refuse to eat They exercise regularly Cook meals for other people Terrified of weight gain

Physical Effects/Symptoms Menstrual cycle stops Fine layer of hair covering the body development can be delayed Nails and hair become brittle Skin dries and turns yellow Frequent urination and bowel movements Swollen joints and loss of muscle mass Bones become prone to breaks Severe depression Destroys vital organs Breathing, pulse, and blood pressure drop

  7. Prognosis for Anorexia Nervosa About 50% of anorexic patients recover . To the other 50% the following may happen: Cardiac arrest Heart Failure Starvation Death Suicide
