  2. In New York State, there are 18 Existing Hazardous Occupations. Persons under the age of 18 are not allowed to be employed in these occupations unless they are in an apprenticeship or work-based learning program.

  3. Construction Work • This Includes: • Wrecking • Demolition • Roofing, • Excavation • Painting or exterior cleaning of a building from an elevated surface

  4. This Includes: Circular Saws Band Saws Guillotine Shears As Well As: Woodworking Tools Metalworking Tools Bakery Machines Paper Product Machines Also Included: Adjusting belts to machinery, or cleaning, oiling, or wiping machinery. Occupations Using Power Tools

  5. Meat Handling Operations • This Includes: • Slaughtering • Meat Packing • Rendering Operations

  6. Power-Driven Hoisting • This Includes: • Power machinery involved in lifting and hoisting operations • Care or operation of a manual freight or passenger elevator

  7. Manufacture of Block • This Includes: • Brick • Tile • Kindred Products

  8. Exposure to Harmful Substances • This Includes: • Radioactive Substances • Ionizing Radiation • Silica or Other Harmful Dust • Poisonous Acids • Also Includes: • Packing paints, dry colors, or red and white leads

  9. Logging Operations • This Includes: • Saw Mill Operation • Lath Mill Operation • Shingle Mill Operation • Cooperative Stock Mill Operation

  10. Motor Vehicle Operation • This Includes: • Being a helper of a vehicle used for business

  11. Explosives • This Includes: • Manufacturing • Packing • Storing • Delivery

  12. Abrasives • This Includes: • Emery • Tripoli • Rouge • Corundum • Stone • Silicon Carbide • Polishing or Buffing Wheels

  13. Steam Boilers • This Includes: • The operation of steam boilers subject to Section 204 of the Labor Law

  14. Mining Occupations • This Includes: • Any operations in connection with a mine or quarry

  15. Correctional Facilities • This Includes: • Custody or care of prisoners or inmates
