Satica versus Indica – The Real Truth about Cannabis Choice

A discussion on whether Sativa strains have more THC, and that Indica strains produce more CBD isn't exactly the stuff of legendary dinner conversations, or even a deep and meaningful over a bowl of chips. However, that doesn't mean you haven't found yourself thinking about which one may be truer.According to data collected by cannabis lab testing, you would be wrong about the quantities of THC versus CBD on both counts. At least, the volumes are nowhere near enough to account for the different highs ascribed to these two broad strains. <br>

  1. Satica versus Indica – The Real Truth about Cannabis Choice - Bristol Bud

  2. A discussion on whether Sativa strains have more THC, and that Indica strains produce more CBD isn't exactly the stuff of legendary dinner conversations, or even a deep and meaningful over a bowl of chips. However, that doesn't mean you haven't found yourself thinking about which one may be truer. According to data collected by cannabis lab testing, you would be wrong about the quantities of THC versus CBD on both counts. At least, the volumes are nowhere near enough to account for the different highs ascribed to these two broad strains. Higher CBD quantities are supposedly responsible for the sleepy feeling produced by indica strains, while sativa strains are thought to be more energizing. Most cannabis purchases are made based on these two predictors. People who want to zone out while binging their current favorite show on Netflix will usually go for the indica strains. Others who want the party to last all-night will most likely be guided towards a sativa variety.

  3. The lab numbers show that there is either more going on behind the scenes when talking about the different effects, or that maybe the different properties have developed over time in a purely anecdotal way, and that they may actually be wrong. The evidence that has so far been collected is not suggestive of any chemical profiles that would make one strain any more buzzworthy, or capable of producing a drowsy glow than the other. In lab results recorded by Confidence Analytics, the differences between indica, sativa, and hybrid strains for THC and CBD quantities did not even make it to a full percentage difference. These numbers are indeed not enough discrepancy to account for their supposed different feel, especially when you consider that the CBD and THC quantities can vary greatly, regardless of whether it's a sativa or indica variety. Luckily for cannabis growers, the two strains do look a little different, and even have different growth characteristics, but we are still left to wonder how the terms "indica" and "sativa" made their way into the cannabis vocabulary.

  4. Sativa and Indica Physical Characteristics - Bristol Bud • If you have ever taken the time to examine the two different strains, you may have noticed that each has slightly different characteristics from the other. • Sativa is tall and gangly, with narrower leaves, holds its flowers for longer, and prefers a warmer climate with a longer growing season. • The Indica strain is shorter and denser, with broad leaves and a short flowering cycle when compared to sativa. These characteristics mean that indica is more suited to colder climates with a relatively shorter growing season.   • Now you're probably wondering what these characteristics have to do with how one or the other strain makes you feel. As it turns out, deciding between sativa and indica should have absolutely nothing to do with your choice. Ethan Russo, a prominent cannabis researcher, has even gone so far as to say that the way the two strains are labeled and described is complete nonsense.

  5. How to Shop for Cannabis Bristol Bud Now that you know the truth about the strains, how do you shop for cannabis to ensure you are going to get the desired effect? Instead of choosing between sativa and indica, broaden your horizons into a chemical profile of dose, and potency. If you want to get into a relaxed zone look for strains which have more CBD over THC. If you want more of a creative buzz that sets your mind on fire then choose strains which have more THC over CBD. So, we've made selecting a strain for the desired effect a little more complicated, but we hope we have given you a wider perspective on finding a strain that suits your mood that is better than just settling for either sativa or indica and being disappointed with the results.
