  2. His Years • Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born February 27, 1807 in Portland, Maine. • Henry died March 24, 1882 in Massachusetts.

  3. His Poetry • Henry wrote many poems, but some well known ones are Paul Revere’s Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline.

  4. His Job • He is a poet who went to Bowdoin College, and then became a professor a Harvard. He retired in 1854 so he could focus on poetry.

  5. His Wives • His first wife, Mary Potter died in 1835 from a miscarriage. • His second wife, Frances Appleton died 1861 after her dress she was wearing caught on fire.

  6. Bad Poems • After Frances Appleton died his poems started becoming unappealing.
