  2. The Beginnings of Industrialization • The Industrial Revolution – refers to the greatly increased output of machine-goods that began in England during the 18th century.

  3. The revolution starts with agriculture • Enclosures – large fields owned by wealthy landowners. This allowed farmers to experiment • Seed drill – seeds are sown in spaced rows at specific depths • Crop rotation – allowed soil to retain nutrients

  4. Why did the Industrial Revolution start in England • 1. Water power and coal • 2. Iron ore to construct machines • 3. Rivers for transport • 4. Harbors

  5. England had highly developed banking system • Remember the corporations (East India Company) • They took these ideas and used them in domestic business investment Factors of production – land, labor and capital Entrepreneur – organizes, manages, and takes on risks of a business
