INTRODUCTION • US company • Highly experienced and extensive knowledgeacrossdeveloping Infrastructure projects, designing PV parks, Strategicfinancing. • Implementing distributed solar power generation model • Active participation in JNNSM and won projects in both Batch 1&2. (Azure is one among 3 suchcompanies) • Azure Power designs, finances, owns, and operates solar power plants. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
WHAT DO THEY DO? • Azure Power creates innovative solutions to deliver solar energy • For utilities, electrification of rural communities • For governments, meeting the government's ambitious objectives for driving India's economic growth with clean energy. • For commercial customers, they provide Solar as a Service. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
WHAT IS SOLAR AS A SERVICE • Azure Power sells solar power, not systems. From 100 kW to multiple MWs • By this, it dramatically reduces the upfront investment and nothing for the system's operation. • Eliminates the headache of working with the government, sourcing suppliers, designing the plant, and installing and operating the system. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
WHY AZURE POWER? • Clean and Affordable: The sun never charges more for its fuel, so they won't charge you more either. • High Reliable: Azure Power uses the best photovoltaic panels and system to ensures 25+ years of flawless operation. • No Operating Cost • Environmental Benefits http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
SWOT ANALYSIS: http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
Porter’s Five Forces: http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
ANALYSIS OF FIVE FORCES: Threat of New Entrants: • New entrants can easily enter, • But the potential is huge, • Hence threat from the entry of these new entrants is low. Bargaining Power of Suppliers: • Currently the suppliers are many and their power of bargaining became weak, due to many suppliers and especially many low cost china PV panel manufacturers. • Competition between these suppliers lead them to have low margins and in some cases they are operating with negative margins. • Big capacity manufacturers are dropping the prices and crushing the lowered capacity ones. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
Bargaining Power of Buyers: • The buyers are generally the Distribution Utilities, Merchant power buyers and other section of customers. • Utilities are obilized parties, hence some extent they will buy the power. • The solar power is highly supported by the government as a part of clean energy development contract under ‘NAPCC’. • The sellers can sell to the other customers like commercial complexes, Office parks, Residential parks, Shopping malls etc.. • These options make sellers at good position, hence the buyers has low power of bargaining. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
Threat of Substitute Products: • There are many other sources of power generation, and all these become its substitutes. • The present incentives are high to the solar energy. • But the current trend of decreasing capital cost , makes solar power to feel less threat from other sources energy. • The recent developments shows that these sources are complementing each other than competing with each other. • Solar PV with Hydro, Diesel & Wind and Solar thermal with bio mass & gas. Rivalry Among Competing Firms in Industry: • There are many solar developers, at the same time the potential is enormous. To add this the capital cost is decreasing and has low entry barriers. Bidding is under competitive basis. • Hence the rivalry is more competing. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
STRATEGY of Azure Power: • Financially they are well supported from VCs, FIs, ICF. • Have signed PPAs with good premium by timely capturing of market, timely execution of the projects and operating the plants successfully. • The main strategy is their slogan ‘Solar as a Service’, under this they are installing solar farms, solar roof tops and selling power to consumers who wish to consume green power and not able to establish the same. • They are good at implementation of project. http://www.azurepower.com/Press_Room.html
