  1. 5 Must do Experiences in Muscat Muscat is a hidden gem of the Middle East surrounded by breath-taking landscapes. The city is often overlooked compared to its neighbouring cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, yet it has so much to offer - beaches, architectural marvels, charming cultures, colourful souks and much more. Brightsun Travel offers cheap flights to Muscat, taking you to this beautiful city in style. Muscat is an ideal place to explore, and we have put together a list of the top 5 must-dos on your visit. Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque This grandeur building is one of the world’s largest mosques, built by Omani ruler Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said and opened to celebrate 30 years of his reign. The monument features contemporary Islamic architecture, Indian sandstone and intricate mosaic patterns, and it’s home to one of the world’s largest woven carpets and glittering chandeliers including a gigantic central chandelier with Swarovski crystals. Stroll Along the Muttrah Corniche Muscat’s Muttrah Corniche promenade is the ultimate people-watching destination. There are old white buildings, mosques, fountains, gardens, cafes and restaurants set amongst a backdrop of dramatic mountain peaks. The promenade’s highlight is the Muttrah Souk, a series of local stalls and shops selling souvenirs, incense, clothing, jewellery and more. The Muttrah Corniche is an ideal place to catch a breath-taking sunset over the Arabian Gulf.

  2. Revel in History at the Bait al Zubair Museum Bait al Zubair is a captivating heritage and cultural centre that opened to the public in 1998, showcasing a privately-owned collection of Omani artefacts and one of the country’s largest heritage and permanent art collections, introducing you to the rich history of Muscat. There’s also a garden with a miniature model of an Omani village and a selection of native plants and trees here.

  3. Enjoy a Dolphin-Watching Excursion Muscat offers multiple chances to spot several dolphin species including Bottlenose dolphins and Spinner dolphins, and sometimes even Sperm whales. There are a number of local tour companies here offering dolphin-watching excursions that take you along the city’s coastlines; these allow you to potentially witness the beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. Some tour companies even offer dolphin tours combined with snorkelling, so you can discover even more unique marine species. Chill out at Al Shatti Beach Muscat makes for some great sightseeing, but we definitely recommend that you take some time out at a beach to top up your tan and lay back in the sunshine. Al Shatti Beach in Qurum is a worthwhile beach spot lined with lush palms, pristine golden sands and turquoise waters, as well as a bunch of local cafes and restaurants. It will feel like paradise here, and you can catch some amazing sunsets.

  4. Book cheap tickets to Muscat and look forward to an unforgettable holiday.
