Career in Web Series It’s amazing to see how the Indian entertainment industry has grown in the last decade to the level it has, with shows like Sacred Games, Mirzapur and other series, we can see the level of growth that the industry has achieved. This growth is a result of the popularity that the web series are gaining in India. It’s not just the entertainment industry that has gained from web series, it’s also helped the film industry. With the popularity of the Indian entertainment industry, there is a huge demand for people working in it.

It’s an easy career option to take up, whether you’re an actor, director or a creative writer, because you can have your own setup and maintain complete creative control. In fact, you can create the kind of content you want to. But the question is ‘how do you enter into the web series industry?’ To start with, you need to know what the web series industry is. Web series is a series of web television shows that are released on the internet and are primarily accessed on mobile devices, personal computers, and tablets. The Indian web series industry has been booming in the past few years and has provided a lot of opportunities for aspiring actors, writers and technicians. More and more people are getting attracted towards it, and are looking for ways to get into this industry. The idea of web series was a result of the increasing popularity of television shows and their success on the internet. It was a new concept that was introduced to the audience, which was earlier focused on the TV series, but was now transitioning to the internet. Although web series first started out as a hybrid of television and internet video to make shorter and more affordable TV- quality content in 2000, the popularity of OTT (over-the-top) platforms have reshaped the market. These days, most movie studios and TV networks including Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu release their own original programs so that they can build an audience on their platform(s). The OTT platforms make money either by selling advertisements or through subscriptions where users can watch ad-free programs or movies.
