  1. Session 9:Multimedia J 0394 – Perancangan Situs Web Program Studi Manajemen Universitas Bina Nusantara

  2. Multimedia • Web design will be interesting if you can add grphics, sounds, animations, and or movies on tour web pages; but the proble is the size capacity, for example: ten seconds of medium quality sound take up more than 200K, which will take your average visitor about a minute to download. Bina Nusantara University

  3. Sound • You can add sound to your web page in two ways: • as a file that is download aa at once to your visitor’s computer and replayed, • as a streaming file that is downloaded little bits at a time and that starts to play even as it continues downloading Bina Nusantara University

  4. Sound (2) • Several wys to get sound: • Self recording; try taking a look at Syntrillium Software’s Cool Edit (www.syntrillium.com) or Macromedia’s SOundEdit (www.macromedia.com) • For streaming audio, download RealNetwork’s RealProducer (www.real.com) • Altavista with audio button or Yahoo: http://dir.yahoo.com/computers_and_internet/multimedia/audio/archives Bina Nusantara University

  5. Sound (3) • Embed sound in a page • Both major browsers come with plug-ins that let them play sound right in the web page itself without it being neccesary for the visitor to download anything extra Bina Nusantara University

  6. Video • Listen a sound in a web is not enough. It’s possible to add links to video on the webpage. As with sound files, you have to be especially careful to provide video in a format that your visitors will be able to use: QuickTime and MPEG for Mac and Windows, AVI just for Windows Bina Nusantara University

  7. Adding External Video to Web page • To make video accessible to visitors regardless of their browser, it might consider using, or at least adding, a link to an external video file. Bina Nusantara University

  8. Adding Internal Video • Miracle of miracles, there is a way to insert video and nimations on a page in a way that both Netscape and Explorer recognize. • IE supports special, non-standar attribute of the IMG TAG that allows you to insert video on a page Bina Nusantara University

  9. Real Media Files • RealMedia files are not downloaded all at once, but instead are streamed bit by bit to your visitors so that they don’t have to wait for a complete download before listening. Bina Nusantara University

  10. Real Media Files (2) • The 3 components to adding RealMedia sound to the page: • the sound itself, • a text file called a metafile that references the sound on the server, and • the HTML code that points to the metafile Bina Nusantara University

  11. Creating a RealMedia Metafile • A link or embedded RealMedia file does not point to the file itself, but rather to a file that points to the RealMedia file. The intermediary file is called a metafile and is simply a text file that lists the path of one or more RealMedia files. Bina Nusantara University

  12. Tool Editor • Adobe Photoshop • Microsoft Paints Bina Nusantara University
