Historical meaning • Remember that the Jewish people began celebrating the Passover on the first anniversary of their freedom from Egypt through Moses’ leadership. • For 430 years (Exodus 12:40) or 400 years( Acts 7:6) the Jewish people’s bondage continued in Egypt. • Origins of the Jewish Passover in Egypt. ( Exodus 7-12).

The Symbols of The these things Old Testament( Exodus 12:5-7) New Testament • Lamb must be without blemish. • Male(one year old). • The two side posts and the upper doorpost of the house. • The lamb’s blood. • The unleavened bread. • Unleavened –no yeast. • …yet without sin(Hebrews 4:5). • Jesus(male) was weak and was killed on the cross, but he now lives by the power of God(2 Cor.13:4). • Jesus’ blood(1John 1:7). • I am the bread of life(John 6:48).

Jesus still keeps the Passover of the Feast in remembrance of his name forever. • “17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? • 18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples. • 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.” Matthew 26:17-19

  5. IV. Through Christ we will be saved by God’s wrath. Why? Because we were God’s enemies. God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Rom.5:8 God’s wrath is that we are his enemies. Through Christ we will be saved from God’s wrath. We make right with God by the blood of Christ’s death.
