  1. Lean AI: Powering Intelligent Automation – The third wave of operational efficiency? The meaning of the word ‘Automation’ has changed over the decades but its vision of driving critical efficiency gains for a business has always remained the same. Automation has gone through three waves of change In the first wave, automation was mostly used to optimize business processes, cut down on unnecessary steps and reduce cost. The second wave saw some major overhauls with entire manual processes being substituted by automated solutions. The third wave of automation is happening right now and the focus is on operational effectiveness. Intelligent automation is important to create a Lean AI wave. The Lean AI wave can be imagined as a 4 step process: 1. AI use case discovery: Identify the process that can improve through AI and design the solution roadmap. 2. Data Transformation: Computer vision and NLP can be used to extract information from different sources like voice, text, video, image, and more. 3. Process Re-Imagination: Machine learning algorithms can be used to assist humans in performing certain tasks and make better decisions. 4. Institutionalization: The new solution is integrated with the existing technology and scaled as per business needs.
