  3. 波士頓已成為舉辦會議及展覽之熱門地點 全美商務旅遊協會（NBTA）所主辦的國際會議﹐今年在波士頓召開﹐儘管只有6200人參加﹐但卻是一個非常重要的會議﹐因為參加的人員將決定商務人士未來會在那進行會面。根據大波士頓地區會議及旅遊局估計﹐這個會議為本地帶來1360萬美元的收入﹐但是未來可能會創造出價值4億2500萬美元的經濟效益。 隨著波士頓「大開挖」工程（Big Dig）的完工﹐加上一座新的會議中心的啟用﹐波士頓已經在持續加強宣傳的工作﹐這個努力如今也有了代價。根據國際會議協會（ICCA）公布的最佳目的地城市及國家的排名﹐波士頓劍橋地區已經從排名第九晉升到第一。另外﹐據了解﹐在即將公布的最新一期「大都會調查」（Metropoll）中﹐波士頓得到極高的分數﹐儘管不是排名第一﹐但是也是在前幾名。 由於不同的會議有不同的需求﹐因此波士頓所面臨的競爭對手也不盡相同。就商展而言﹐波士頓的競爭對手有奧蘭多、拉斯維加斯及亞特蘭大。就會議來說﹐主要對手則是舊金山、費城、聖地亞哥及華盛頓特區。至於成長快速的國際會議市場﹐波士頓則是要與舊金山、亞特蘭大、芝加哥及華盛頓等地競爭。 Page 1/2 資料來源及時間:Boston Business Journal 日期：2007年9月28日

  4. 波士頓已成為舉辦會議及展覽之熱門地點 就如同芝加哥是位於美國的中央一樣﹐波士頓剛好是位在加州及歐洲的中間﹐吸引來自兩地的與會者。由於這種方便的地理位置﹐所以波士頓在國際會議市場的競爭上﹐佔有優勢。另外﹐波士頓的羅根國際機場距離市區也很近。 產業展覽通常喜歡選擇距離會員較近的地方﹐例如德州休士頓就是石油及天然氣產業展覽的最佳地點﹐芝加哥是製造業﹐波士頓則是科技及製藥產業。 波士頓的海因斯會議中心（Hynes Convention Center）的展覽面積為17萬5000平方英尺﹐有41間會議室﹐以及一間占地2萬5000平方英尺的大廳﹐至於波士頓會議暨展覽中心（BCEC）﹐其展覽面積則有51萬6000平方英尺﹐有84間會議室﹐以及一間逾4萬平方英尺的大廳。由於大型的活動通常在幾年前就已經預訂好了﹐所以儘管BCEC是在2004年就開始啟用﹐但是一直到現在才造成比較大的影響。事實上﹐NBTA已經有19年都沒有在波士頓舉行過會議﹐就是因為波士頓的會議中心場地不夠大﹐無法負擔大型的活動。 Page 2/2 資料來源及時間:Boston Business Journal 日期：2007年9月28日
