  2. Mentoring/Review Process • College of Business ARC review process • Split up the support units and the educational units for review • All reviewers received a printout of their reports to be reviewed at least one week before the meeting to input reviews and comments in the system • Support unit reviewers completed the reviews together in a meeting so any questions could be answered by the UAC • Educational unit reviewers also completed their reviews in a group

  3. 2012-13 Component Data

  4. Data Visualization

  5. 2012-13 Best Practices – “Closing the Loop” • Outcome: • Students will demonstrate effective communication skills • Means of Assessment: • ACCT 4631, BUSI 2200, MIS 4631, MIS 4173: In-class presentation graded with standardized rubric to assess communication skills • Criteria for Success: • 75% of students will earn scores of 2.5 or better on a presentation scored on a scale of 1 to 4 • 2012-2013 Results: • The goal was met; 93.7% of students earned a score of 2.5 or higher

  6. 2012-13 Best Practices – “Closing the Loop” • Actions Taken (based on analysis of results): • The data suggested our methods were effective in teaching communication. The Business Communication Center continued the current teaching approach and, with the support of administration, will seek to expand this approach to other courses in the program to develop a more common understanding of effective communication. Faculty also re-examined where Writing Intensive designated courses should occur in the curricular sequence. It was also determined that faculty will amend this learning goal in order to be more consistent with the mission of the college. • Initiative/Change/Strategy Implemented for Program/Unit improvement: • Utilize the Business Communication Center in more courses

  7. Substantive Changes • Program/Unit: • All BSBA • MBA • MSA • Description of Changes: • All goals, outcomes, means of assessment, and criteria for success have been updated to better align with the new COB mission • Justification for Changes: • All changes better convey the traits that are important to the COB mission, faculty, and staff

  8. Rubric and Review Process Feedback • Rubric and review process • Reviewers need more training • Examples of best practices before reviewing • Training on inputting reviews should be later • Since all goals, outcomes, means of assessment, and criteria for success are newly aligned with the new COB mission, only simple items like verb-tense will be addressed in the developing and acceptable reviews.

  9. Looking Forward • Planned Actions to Ensure Continuous Improvement • Ongoing faculty discussion of goals, criteria, and assessments to ensure continued alignment with the College mission and areas of importance • Collection of all assessments and rubrics • Collection of data every semester • Continuation of College Retreat in the Fall to facilitate faculty dialogue regarding assessment practices and actions taken to continue program improvement • Data analysis done earlier to have actions taken before end of May
