  1. Diagnostic tool-test for MPLS transport profile draft-flh-mpls-tp-oam-diagnostic-test-00 Feng Huang feng.f.huang@alcatel-sbell.com.cn Lieven Levrau Lieven.Levrau@alcaltel-lucent.com Alcatel Lucent Han Li lihan@chinamobile.com China Mobile Ruiquan Jing jingrq@ctbri.com.cn China Telecom 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  2. Authors/Contributors • Feng Huang (Alcatel-lucent Shanghai Bell) • Lieven Levrau (Alcatel Lucent) • Han Li (China Mobile) • Ruiquan Jing (China Telecom) 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  3. What’s diagnostic tools • Diagnostic tools are used for diagnose fault or performance, which including: • Loopback-looping the traffic at an Intermediate Point(MIP) or End point (MEP) back to the originating end Point-loopback. • Bandwidth/throughput estimating or verification • Frame loss/delay measurement 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  4. What’s diagnostic tools -TST • Diagnostic tool-TST is used for verifying throughput one-way or two way on-demand in-service or out-of-service. • Throughput is a capacity in terms of line rate; it is the amount of bits observed passing a point during a time interval. 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  5. Out of service test • Client data traffic is disrupted in the diagnosed entity by LCK function. • The source MEP transmits TST packets to the target MEP ,and gradually increase TST packet bandwidth until hitting a threshold TST packet traffic loss rate. 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  6. In service test • For further study 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  7. TST frame suggestion • TST frame including: • Performance counter such as send time, received time, send packets, received packets. • TST TLV such as test pattern such as NULL, PBRS, RFC2544 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  8. Discussion • Is there need throughput test tool (TST) for MPLS-TP? • Test in service ? 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009

  9. Next Steps • Update it to be version 01 according to comments input 76th IETF – Hiroshima, Japan, November 2009
