  2. What does Pre-Law mean? • A pre-professional track; not a major • Identifies you to advisors • Helps you stay informed • No particular classes are required

  3. How to prepare for law school • Choose courses that are: • rigorous • writing-intensive • interesting • Focus on your grades immediately • Your GPA is more important than your activities • Carefully weigh working and extra-curricular activities

  4. If you do well (3.7 gpa or higher)… • Dean’s list • Early registration • Freshman Tea • More competitive for internships • Eligible for new scholarships • May be selected for prestigious campus service

  5. 2007 admissions information • Harvard Law School • Median GPA: 3.88 • Median LSAT: 170 • UT Law School • median GPA: 3.6 • Median LSAT: 166 (about 95th percentile) • Baylor • median GPA: 3.74 • median LSAT: 163 (about 90th percentile)

  6. If you do poorly… • Spend next three years trying to recover • Probation (under 2.0) • Suspension (under 2.0 while on probation) • Can’t participate in activities
