Description and Learning Outcomes Description • This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to organise own work schedules, monitor and obtain feedback on work performance, and maintain required levels of competence. Learning Outcomes At the end of this unit of competency you will be able to: Organise and complete own work schedule • Work goals and objectives are understood, negotiated and agreed in accordance with organisational requirements • Workload is assessed and prioritised to ensure completion within identified timeframes • Factors affecting the achievement of work objectives are identified and incorporated into work plans • Business technology is used efficiently and effectively to manage and monitor scheduling and completion of tasks

Learning Outcomes Cont’d Monitor own work performance • Personal work performance is accurately monitored and adjusted to ensure maintenance of job quality and customer service • Feedback on performance is actively sought from colleagues and clients and evaluated in the context of individual and group requirements • Variations in the quality of service and products are routinely identified and reported in accordance with organisational requirements Develop and maintain own competence level • Personal knowledge and skills are assessed against competency standards performance descriptions to determine development needs and priorities • Opportunities for improvement are identified and planned in liaison with colleagues • Feedback is used to identify and develop ways to improve competence within available opportunities • New skills and opportunities to develop them are identified to achieve and maintain continuous learning • Records and documents relating to achievements and assessments are stored and maintained in accordance with own requirements

Evidence of Competency (2) Case Study – “Elite Events” • Read the “Elite Events” case study on pages 119-122, and complete the following activities: • Page 121 – ‘Organise and Complete own Work Schedule’ – Parts a-e. • Page 121 – ‘Monitor own work performance – Parts a, b. • Page 122 – ‘Develop and maintain own competence level’ – Parts a, b and c.

Evidence of Competency (3) Employability and Personal Skills Assessment • Assess your own competence level (i.e. personal knowledge and skills) against competency standards performance descriptions to determine development needs and priorities . • Identify new skills and opportunities to achieve and maintain continuous learning .   7. Evidence of Competency (4) My CV / Resume You are required to produce a personal portfolio that includes a complete resume including all the items listed below. In addition you are required to develop an interview preparation check list, and to demonstrate interview techniques. • STUDENT PERSONAL PORTFOLIO • Title Page •  Career goal/s •  Photograph of student (optional) •  Work history •  Birth / Naturalisation certificate •  Work Experience reports / skills list •  Personal reference (2) •  Academic record (reports, achievement certificates etc.) •  General certificates/awards •  Photographs of work •  Work Safe Certificate •  Interview preparation checklist

Evidence of Competency (5) Job Application Letter Using www.seek.com.au, find a job that you could either apply for now or would aspire to applying for after finishing further study and TAFE or University. Create a formal job application letter that you would attach to your CV and send in to apply for the position.

Evidence of Competency (6) Answers to Common Interview Questions Using the job advert that selected in Part #5 on www.seek.com.auand the application letter that you have written, you now need to prepare for the job interview. Read through the ‘Job Interview Skills’ sheets using the link from the Cert 3 Business website. Then complete the worksheet “Answers to Common Interview questions” – writing answers that YOU could use ina n interview for the position you have applied for..
