  2. Background on Shakespeare • William Shakespeare was born around April 23, 1564. He was baptized on April 26. William attended the local grammar school in Stratford were his parents lived. He married Anne Hathaway and had three children with her. Many people break up Shakespeare's life into three sections the first as a father and husband, the second as an actor and play writer in London, and the last years was in his retirement in Stratford.

  3. Romeo and Juliet in Art This painting displays the affection that Romeo and Juliet had for each other. Francesco Hayez painted this artwork in 1823 he was inspired by Shakespeare’s story Romeo and Juliet.

  5. Modern adaptations • Renato Castellani produced a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet in 1954 and it was very successful. He was the first person to use young actors for Romeo and Juliet.

  6. Text to text • Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare can be compared to the book twilight by Stephanie Meyers. These books both focus on star crossed lovers who will do anything for each other.

  7. Text to world • When Shakespeare was written it was not acceptable for teenagers to do anything sexual with each other out of marriage, but now days its very normal. Also these days its against the law to date older men.

  8. Text to self • As in Romeo and Juliet I understand why the they couldn’t talk to each other some people my parents don’t want me to be associated with.
