  2. WELCOME Brigadier Dianne Gallasch Director General Support Headquarters Joint Operations Command Bungendore, Canberra • Joint Operations Command – defines the contract requirements • Joint Logistics Command – sources what has been defined including conduct of Request for Tender process

BACKGROUND The Australian Government undertook rationalisation of ADF bases in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) Activities consolidated at the Al Minhad Air Base (AMAB) AMAB is now primary point of entry to MEAO AMAB provides base support services for ADO personnel with ability for surges ADO is approaching the market through a prime contractor arrangement under MELABS Request for Tender

  4. AMAB Located 40km from Dubai Occupied by other coalition forces Security provided by the Host Nation ADF are invited guests of the Host Nation Contractors are solely responsible for dealing directly with the UAE Government in order to establish business arrangements

  5. Role of AMAB for ADF Main point of entry for all equipment, stores and personnel An airbase servicing military/civil aircraft Start point for on-forwarding of forces into Afghanistan Decompression start point for forces returning to Australia Location of Commander JTF633 and his headquarters staff

  6. AMAB Australian Compound Life support facilities Working facilities Facilities will be shown to prospective industry tenderers over the comings weeks

  7. ADF Intent for AMAB Consolidate all contracted services under a single prime contractor Maximise efficiency and achieve value for money outcomes Partnering approach Identification of opportunities for continued improvement
