Don'ts of Decisions • Don’t wait until all else fails before seeking God (I Kings 22:5) • Don’t seek a plan but rather seek God who reveals the plan (Prov. 3:5-6) • Don’t pray for permission for something God has already forbidden (Ps 119:106) • Don’t make decisions based on feelings (Prov. 4:23)

  3. Don’ts Continued • Don’t assume God’s will is too difficult for you to accomplish (I John 5:3) • Don’t have divided loyalties where money dictates your decision (Matt. 6:24) • Don’t test God by looking for visible signs (Matt 12:39) • Don’t think trials indicate you are out of God’s will (I Peter 4:19)

  4. Guidance • Live to please God (I Thess. 4:1) • Live in God’s Word (I Thess. 4:2) • Live a life on Honor (I Thess. 4:4,7) • Live in the Spirit (I Thess. 4:5) • Live in Integrity (I Thess. 4:6) • Live in Acceptance of God’s Word (I Thess. 4:8) • Live in Brotherly love (I Thess. 4:9-10)

  5. Guidance • Gifts (I Peter 4:10) • The gift of the Holy Ghost, He will lead and guide you into all truth. • Understanding (Prov. 15:21) • Obtain all the facts • Look at the consequences • Is there a deadline • Is the decision based on guilt

  6. Guidance Continued • Inner Conviction (Ps 15:21) • Pray & Fast • Mediate on God’s Word • Ask God for peace • Desires (Ps 37:4) • Study the Scriptures • Hate the works of the flesh • Seek the fruit of the Spirit

  7. Guidance Continued • Advice (Prov 19:20) • The Word of God • Pastoral • Testimonies of others • Necessity (James 4:17) • Responsibilities (God or Self) • Moving, occupation, marriage, time

  8. Guidance Continued • Circumstances (Prov 16:9) • Not all doors opened or closed is because of God • See beyond the doors or immediate circumstances • Pray

  9. Guidance Continued • Elimination (I Cor 10:23) • Eliminate choices of temptation • Eliminate choices of misdirected time • Eliminate choices that will take you away from God
