Voice of Nursing: Current Work Introduction to Voice of Nursing (VON) at KP San Diego Medical Center • Connect KP Nursing mission, vision and values with the Voice of Nursing • VON Lunch and Learn Sessions • Attended by Inpatient and Ambulatory Nurse Leaders • Introduced VON overview and 4 components • Ambulatory Care will be doing lunch and learns with the clinic RN’s at the various MOB’s. • VON Kick Off Event • Attended by nursing and support staff (Inpatient and Ambulatory) • Celebration style event with posters, banners, food, raffle prizes and giveaways • Poster presentations of 4 components • Model wheel, bookmarks, pamphlets and white paper distributed • On-going dialogue with staff • Professional Practice Council • Nursing Quality and Patient Safety Council • Unit Based Teams, Staff Meetings and Unit Huddles • Charge Nurse Meetings • Staff Meetings • 1:1 conversations with staff • Hospital DA Meetings

Inspiration How to Nominate an Extraordinary Nurse The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Each DAISY Award Honoree will be recognized at a public ceremony in her/his unit and will receive: a beautiful certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand carved stone sculpture entitled A Healer’s Touch. Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, employees may nominate a deserving nurse by filling out this form and submitting it to the party below. An electronic version for hospital employees is available on the Kaiser Permanente intranet site. Infrastructure Goals: The goal of the infrastructure team is to link our day to day professional nursing practices with our mission and values statements by focusing on unifying our practices, standards, systems, processes and work groups throughout Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. • Initiatives: • Elevate the roles of the health care professionals in the nursing departments. • Enculturate a mutually beneficial partnership with our patients and their families. • Cultivate a caring and honest environment. • Strengthen and enhance our interdisciplinary workforce. • Foster our performance culture by innovation and technology.

Evaluation • Goals: • Evidence Team goal is to develop a continuum communication strategy (Ambulatory to Inpatient) utilizing our scorecards and other tools to translate information to engage the front line. • Evidence makes visible the alignment of individual behaviors with the overall vision. This is primarily compiled through measurement and evaluation.
