  4. Inheritance 1.Money or property received after the death of a relative or friend. 2. A characteristic, such as red hair, that is received genetically from a parent, grandparent, etc. Inherit (verb) inheritor (noun)

  5. Lineage Direct descent from a particular ancestor Lineal (adj.)

  6. Maternal Referring to mother or motherhood From the Latin word mater, meaning “mother.”

  7. Matriarch A women who rules a family or clan Matriarchal (adj) matriarchy (noun)

  8. Parental Characteristic ofa mother or father From the Latin word parere, meaning “to give birth.” Parentally (adv)

  9. Patriarch 1. Male leader of a family or clan. 2. A very old and respected man. PATRIARCHAL (ADJ) PATRIARCHY (NOUN) From the Greek word pater, meaning “father,” and arkhos, meaning “ruler”

  10. Posterity 1. Future generations. 2. All of a person’s descendants. (From the Latin word posterus, meaning “coming after”)

  11. Sibling A brother or sister (From the Old English word sibb, meaning “kinsman”)
