  2. History of nanaimo:the bastion • Everyone should visit the Bastion when they come to Nanaimo. It was built by the Hudson’s Bay Company to protect the first settlers from attack.

  3. History of nanaimo: coal mining • Nanaimo became a city because of coal mining. It’s dangerous working in coal mines. There were many explosions.

  4. History of nanaimo: Parks Beban Park is one of Nanaimo’s biggest parks. You can go skating and swimming there.

  5. Events in nanaimo: bathtub races • The Nanaimo Bathtub races were started by Mayor Frank Ney. He wanted people to visit Nanaimo.
