Four regions are as follows: • Northeast China (dongbei, as they call it): longtime industrial heartland consisting of Heilongjiang, Jilin, and Liaoning provinces • Beijing-Tianjin information corridor: is the central business district, like California’s Silicon Valley • Shanghai and Yangtze River Delta: Hangzhou and Suzhou, traditional commerce, trading, banking and service industry • Pearl River Delta: Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, region with Western ties
