  2. Welcome to EBSCO’s Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center tutorial. Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center is a comprehensive database that provides detailed "how-to" instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast. Whether you enjoy baking, knitting, model building, or playing the piano, you’ll find an abundance of full-text articles from leading hobby and craft magazines along with hundreds of how-to videos and thousands of recipes. In this tutorial, we will look at how to conduct a basic search from the home screen as well as some of the unique features of Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center.

  3. Let’s begin by conducting a basic search from the Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center home screen. Simply enter your search term(s) in the Find field and click the Search button.

  4. By default, your search results will appear in order of relevance, but you can also sort articles by source, author, or date. Click on a Full Text link to view the full text article, or click the title to view details about the article. Don’t have time to read it now? Sign In to your personal account and click the Add to Folder link to save the article to your personal folder. If at any time you wish to return to the home page, click the product logo.

  5. You can also browse Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center content in other ways. The Browse by Category area allows you to peruse articles by hobby or interest. Looking to make a pair of earrings or a necklace? Begin by clicking the Arts & Crafts category.

  6. On the next screen, you’ll see a list of topics related to Arts & Crafts. Click a topic (for example, Jewelry Making) to display a list of results.

  7. From the result list, you can click on a Full Text link to view the full text article, or click the title to view details about the article. If available, related Hobbies and Crafts Videos will appear in the right-hand column.

  8. PDF full text displays in the PDF Full Text Viewer. From here, you can Print, E-mail, Cite,Export, or Add the result to your Folder by clicking the corresponding icons under the Tools menu on the right. You can print or save the article to your computer by using the icons found in the Adobe Reader toolbar. To see citation and summary information for the article, click Detailed Record.

  9. Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center also allows you to search all available how-to videos and images. From the Basic Search screen, click the Video/Images link in the top toolbar. Enter your search terms in the Find field and click Search.

  10. From the result list, simply click on the Video link to view the Flash video. Under Database in the left column, check the Image Quick View Collection box to view all available images related to your search. Click on an image thumbnail to view the image.

  11. Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center’s featured content is rotated on a regular basis. You can read about a special project under Crafts Spotlight and view a how-to video under Featured Video.

  12. To view the complete online Help system, click the Helplink at the top right of the Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center home screen.
