INTRODUCTION Operating system is an integrated set of program that control the resources of a computer system and provides its users with an interface or virtual machine that is easier to use than the bare machine. Operating system is a software ,which makes the computer to actually work. OS acts as an interface between application program and machine hardware.

Structure of OS The two primary objectives of an OS • Make a computer system easier to use: AnOS hide details hardware resources from programmers and users provides them a interface for using operating system. • Manage the resources of a computer system: An OS manage all the resources of a computer system. Efficient and fair sharing of system resources users and/or programs is a key goal of all operating system.

  5. Few popular operating system • Windows 7: It’s the most popular and used operating system. About 56.41 percent computer of the world using this operating system. • Windows XP: Windows XP is like older windows 7.Still now 13.57 percent computer user prefer windows XP. • Mac OSX:OSX developed by Apple Mac system. Its only design for Mac computer and Mac are quite expensive. • Others: OthersOS include Linux, Mac OS X 10.10,Win64 etc .
