Notetaking • Notetaking is the act of writing down selected information from a source, such as a lecture, presentation or written text. • For example, your instructor might mention a text, formula or concept you need to know about. This information might later appear on a quiz or exam. • You should be taking notes in most of your lectures and labs. RJ 2018

  6. The Cornell Notetaking Method • Notetaking is a study skill which is very personal. • Students usually develop their own way of taking notes. • The Cornell Method is one way to help you get started. RJ 2018

  9. How should we take notes? • Use abbreviations, such as gov, dept, UK, USA, NY, LA, AD, DXB, KUST, Tech. Sci. Inst. eg. ie. • Omit vowels eg. Lndn, Grmny, rsrch, dvrse, fclty, • Use symbols: > < = + & H20 • Use sketches: RJ 2018
