  1. Campers • 24 out of town, that is 8 from Rivne, 8 from Lviv and 8 from Chernivtsi and their nearby areas (target cities may change) • 50-55 from Ternopil and Ternopil region (with the expectation to see 40-45 complete the program) • Campers from other regions are to be provided with accommodation and meals, those, who are from Ternopil region but are eager to attend have to find lodging on their own (host family system perhaps) • Target age group 16-19 • Campers should exhibit the following: • A desire to participate and implement future projects • A working level of English

  2. Camper selection • Need for a 2 stage camper selection: • One day camps in Lviv, Rivne, Chernivtsi and maybe a weekend camp in Ternopil to advertise the program and to meet and test potential campers as well as the staff • Interviews and applications with both the people from stage 1 and other interested individuals • Exceptions can be made based on the specific situation

  3. Rough sketch of the daily schedule

  4. Classes/Curriculum • 3 main classes a day: • Project planning/Civics (basic civic ideas and project planning steps as well as completion of a simple project during camp) • Sharing cultures/Country studies (Info about the different cultures of the world and one country in particular with a country presentation during extravaganza) • The arts (theater, music, photography, etc. How are these spheres are going to be mixed is to be decided, Ideas so far include having campers choose one to work with for the duration or 3-4 days on each one to give students a taste for them all) • The curricula will be prepared by the staff members responsible for them, but all the teachers of one subject should keep in touch • Various elective classes with prepared curriculum will serve as the 4th lesson of the day • An advanced project planning optional class may be introduced as a free-time activity during the 2nd week of camp so that interested individuals would be able to get into more advanced areas of project implementation and hear more about its details and past experience

  5. Teams • 6 teams with two team times a day • A fairly competitive attitude • A point system is to be used to create motivation for team members • Team activities should be somewhat simple, not very childish and non-stressful with more focus on individual creativity • No funky chicken • Everyday there is a camp wide challenge/team presentation/activity • Dress-up days are not the main highlight, but a little bonus for the day • Teams will be used to both create a attitude of openness as well as the idea of responsibility and leadership

  6. Social events • The camp is to have a vivid palette of social activities to increase bonding between campers, provide a fun counterpart to serious lessons and to spice up the atmosphere ; ) • Staff members would have an opportunity to prepare their own event beforehand • On campsite social events are to be planned and prepared by staff and campers • Some ideas: A disco, team dinner, theme parties (the Beatles, Pajama, 80s, lounge/chill out), a camper-planned party, game night, movie night, farewell party etc. • This being the Cactus camp as of now, a Mexican style social get together with Piñata, Spanish music, maybe Mexican food would definitely be appreciated • The middle free day would be a camp-wide picnic/get together with things such as BBQ, shashlik, sports, games and perhaps some on camp projects carried out • Each social event will need to be discussed before hand to decide on rules and how staff will need to prepare for it depending on if it is just a dinner at a café or a beatles party at the campus for example.

  7. Code of conduct • Despite the abundant social program, a reasonably strict code of conduct is to be in place, resembling the one at previous IOC camps • In no way should irresponsible behavior be encouraged by anything related to camp, students attending this camp need to realize that this camp is academic in nature and should behave as such • Drinking should be forbidden on campsite, for persons under 18 and any drunk behavior during camp is to be absolutely not tolerated • For any violations of the code of conduct, swift and just repercussions are to be expected while bearing in mind the specific situation
