Proposed Field Action Over Next 2-5 YearsDevelop a sustainable approach to climate services • Automate the climate observation network • Reallocate resources to establish a full-time climate services FTE in local offices Regional/National Support Needed: • NOAA resources to support what NCS wants local WFOs to deliver Obstacles/Challenges Identified • Change of working conditions • Maintaining presence in local communities

Proposed Field Actions Over Next 2-5 YearsStrengthen relationships to provide climate services • Customer discovery • Coordinate with NCS RDs Regional/National Support Needed: • NCS director should visit NCDC, regional climate staff, state climatologists, WFOs, climate service partners Obstacles/Challenges Identified • Lack of a clear, common message to share with constituents

Proposed Field Actions Over Next 2-5 YearsDevelop and promote training • Require existing training from CSD to all staff • Identify training gaps • Prepare local staff with a comprehensive overview of the state of the science, regional impacts, and uncertainty Regional/National Support Needed: • NSTEP support for climate training • Regional SSDs require CSD courses in annual training plan Obstacles/Challenges Identified • Funding for climate training • Forecaster confidence in speaking to climate science
