2. Our Mission The mission of KRUU is to give Fairfield a voice and strengthen the community by encouraging creativity, dialogue and community involvement. KRUU is an open, inclusive, diverse forum for music, creative expression, information, and entertainment. It is a non-commercial, non-profit, community-supported low-power radio station with a strong emphasis on locally created and produced programming.

Overview of KRUU • LPFM – Low Power FM • Application for license • June 2001 filing window - 1 week • 1 of only 26 applications granted in Iowa, only a few not syndicated religious programming or DOT. • Broadcast on the FM dial at 100.1 • Low power 100 watts • Antenna 65 feet high • Old Beatbox building at 405 N. 2nd St

Station Construction • First town hall meeting May 11th, 2006 regarding a community media project, group decides to pursue building low power station • Organization, fundraising, renovation and construction starts immediately • Antenna is raised July 4th 2006 • Donated tower and installation • Began broadcasting September 30th, 2006 with 24/7 programming
