  5. Where did the explorers land? • Up the eastern coast to Pamlico Sound near Hatteras

  6. What occurred during this exploration • They met Algonquian Indians • Indian leaders: Chief Wingina and his brother Granganimeo • They traded items • Two Indians returned to England: Manteo and Wanchese they stayed for about a year

  7. How did the report effect future expedition • Barlowe and Amadas gave a glowing report. • Another expedition was led by military men Grenville and Lane. • The purpose the start a colony and to establish a fort.
