  4. A Slewing mobile crane is equipped with a boom and can have various lifting gear attached such as ropes, chains and sheaves. Its main purpose is to raise and lower loads in a horizontal plane around its axis. This training will allow students to plan a job, perform before and after operational checks, set up a crane in a safe manner, transfer and move loads and finally shut down and secure a crane with a capacity of up to 60 tonnes according to site procedures. In accordance with Work Health and Safety Queensland licencing requirements, the C6 licence encompasses the CV, CN and C2 certificates. 8

On successful completion of this course, students will have the capabilities to demonstrate the following; •Identify underground services, ground conditions, powerlines and environmental issues. •Conduct all routine checks including pre-start, start up and shut down checks and report potential hazards such as 10

  11. •Set up and operate EWP’s under 11 metres in a safe and secure manner. •Perform duties safely at heights and ensure proper use of appropriate tools. •Attach a fall arrest harness to prevent falls from occurring. •Establish emergency procedures in the event of a fall. •Knowledgeable of the various emergency lowering devices on an EWP including bleed valves, hand operated pumps and a hydraulic accumulator 11

  12. The minimum age to operate an EWP under 11 meters is 14 years and 9 months where the applicant will be issued with a “Restricted Yellow Card”. This will allow you to operate under the direct supervision of an unrestricted Yellow Card holder within the same EWP class. 12
