PC Current Activities • Reliability Concepts Document • Reliability Fundamentals Working Group being formed – need volunteers • Additional Chapters Suggested: • Transmission Planning • Resource Planning • Load Forecasting • System Protection and Control • Voltage and Reactive Assessment • Metrics

PC Current Activities • Reliability Metrics Working Group • WECC Members: Brian Furumasu, BPA; Jerry Rust, NPPC • Formed 2 teams for LTRA Metrics: • Generation and Demand Side Management • Transmission Expansion • Plan to submit LTRA Metrics to PC for approval to post for comments at Sept ‘08 PC Meeting • RMWG meet in Oct to review comments and make changes • Submit final LTRA Metrics to PC for approval at Dec ‘08 PC meeting

PC Current Activities • Integration of Variable Generation Task Force (IVGTF) • 50 Participants in 5 Subgroups • First draft report is 250 pages • Focus is Impacts and Implications of Variable Generation • “What” not “How To” • Second draft goal is 30 to 40 pages with key themes and recommendations • Second draft report to be presented to PC in Sept ‘08 • Final report and recommendations to be approved in Dec ‘08 • Meeting to present results to public in Jan ‘09

  5. PC Current Activities • Reliability Assessment Improvement Task Force (RAITF) • Recent work focused on : • Enhanced Capacity Definitions • Treatment of Deliverability • Emerging Issues • Scenario Assessment schedules

PC Current Activities • Reliability Assessment Guidebook – Ad Hoc Task Force • Small Task Force to develop guide for seasonal and long term assessments • Aggressive schedule to complete by Sept ‘08 PC meeting • Use will start with following seasonal and long term assessments • Need WECC representative to serve on task force!!!

PC Current Activities • Reliability Assessment Subcommittee (RAS) • Scenario Outlines prepared by the Regions approved by the PC • Emerging Issue templates approved by the PC except for Natural Gas Transportation which was referred back to the RIS to redevelop as Fuel Transportation and Storage

PC Current Activities • Transmission Availability Data System Task Force (TADS) • Phase I webTADS Reporting • 1st Qtr ‘08 data submittal deadline extended from 5/30 to 6/30 • TO Data Submittal • RE Data Review • NERC Data Review and Analysis • Results available Aug 2008 • Phase II Final report due in Aug 2008 • PC approval of final report in Sept 2008 • Board approval in Oct 2008 • Begin reporting in 2009

  10. PC Current Activities • Reliability Standards Development Plan • Draft of 2009 to 2011 plan in late July or early Aug • Standards Committee approval scheduled for Sept 22 • Board of Trustees approval scheduled for Oct 28 – 29 • File plan with FERC in Nov 2008
