A Spiritually Healthy Person
An Untreated Sickness
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,Whose sin is covered.Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
When I kept silent, my bones grew oldThrough my groaning all the day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.I acknowledged my sin to You,And my iniquity I have not hidden.I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.
The remedy for our sickness is repentance!
“But unless you repent you will all likewise perish” Luke 13:5
See 2 Corinthians 7:8-11
“If impure thoughts trouble you, do not hide them, but tell them at once to your spiritual father and condemn them. The more a person conceals his thoughts, the more they multiply and gain strength. But an evil thought, when revealed, is immediately destroyed. If you hide things, they have great power over you, but if you could only speak of them before God, in the presence of another, then they will often wither away, and lose their power.”Sayings of Desert Fathers
St. Gregory of Nyssa said: “Regard the church priest as a spiritual father for you, reveal to him your secrets openly, just as a patient reveals his hidden wounds to the physician, and so is healed.”
Repentance is salvation, freedom and joy.
I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:7
