  1. Mark 13:33-37 • "Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.34. "It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.35. "Therefore, be on the alert--for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning--36. in case he should come suddenly and find you asleep.37. "What I say to you I say to all, `Be on the alert!' "

  2. Living at the End 1 Peter 4:7-11

  3. How Should We Live? • In prayer that is serious & watchful • “sound judgment”- reasonable, sensible, serious • “sober”- free from every form of mental and spiritual drunkenness, I.e. passion, rashness, confusion… having a calm and collected spirit

  4. Ephesians 6:18 • With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, …on the alert

  5. How Should We Live? • In prayer that is serious & watchful • “sound judgment”- reasonable, sensible, serious • “sober”- free from every form of mental and spiritual drunkenness, I.e. passion, rashness, confustion… having a calm and collected spirit Able to pray because they keep their wits about them.

  6. How Should We Live? • In love that is fervent and forgiving • Agape- real interest in the welfare of another • “fervent”- eager, earnest, straining, without ceasing • “above all”-not more important, but first in your relationship

  7. If love is first, then it “covers”, I.e. not to impute or regard, but to pardon

  8. How Should We Live? • Taking love farther, be hospitable • Literally- affection or love for strangers • Romans 12:13- practice hospitality, be given to it • Hebrews 13:2- do not neglect it

  9. What does this say today? Speaks to love, relationship, sharing, and caring for others. To be true hospitality it is be without complaint/ not grudgingly

  10. How Should We Live? • In service to others that glorifies God • The grace of God is “manifold”, I.e., it is multi-faceted, various • TWO EXAMPLES ARE GIVEN • Speaking..as an oracle or mouthpiece • Serving..whatever is done for another • It is God that “supplies”… • That in ALL things He is glorified

  11. Living as if it is the End requires effort. But to glorify God now is to be glorified by Him later!
