  1. Overview of MESA Technical working procedures

  2. MESA TWP basics • A MESA work item • The work program • The rapporteur • A MESA document • A Change Request

  3. A MESA work item • title; • intended output (Specification or Report); • technical scope, • schedule of tasks to be performed; • 4 supporting Individual or Public Safety Members; • the Rapporteur; • SSG or TSG define and approve new Work Items.

  4. The work program • Approved WIs with all the necessary information are input for the MESA work program • After 1 month if no objections are received are considered adopted by the SC • if no progress has been achieved in a period of 12 months, the Work Item shall be flagged as "stopped" in the Work Programme. • A stopped Work Item can be reactivated

  5. The rapporteur • “individual responsible for a MESA work item and who acts as the prime contact point for information on progress throughout the drafting phases of the Work Item” • MESA Style Sheet • MESA Drafting Rules • Document template

  6. A MESA document • Final output of a MESA work item • MESA Report (TR) or MESA Specification (TS) • Approved by SG (TSG or SSG) • Adopted by SC • Organizational Partners convert the MESA documents into deliverables through their normal processes

  7. A change request • When a draft MESA deliverable becomes sufficiently stable, is put under change control by the SG. The further development of the deliverable shall be achieved by change requests to be approved by the SG. • When an adopted MESA deliverable is revised in order to produce a subsequent version, all development of the deliverable shall be achieved by change requests to be approved by the SSG or TSG. • MESA Change requests have to be submitted using the change request form http://www.projectmesa.org/CR.htm

  8. Document version numbering • The contents of the MESA documents are subject to continuing work within the SGs and may change following formal SG approval. Should the SG modify the contents of a document, it is re-released by the SG with an identifying change of release date and an increase in version number as follows: Version x.y.z where: • x the first digit: • 1 presented to SG for information; • 2 presented to SG for approval; • 3 or greater indicates SG approved document under change control. • y the second digit is incremented for all changes of substance, i.e. technical enhancements, corrections, updates, etc. • z the third digit is incremented when editorial only changes have been incorporated in the document • E.g. Every document drafted by the rapporteur after the WI approval, will start from version number 0.1.1, these will increase for any change to the draft to 0.x.y …

  9. Further information • Technical Working Procedures • Drafting Rules • New Work Item Form • MESA Change Request http://www.projectmesa.org/rules.htm
