Review I Corinthians 12 • Don’t be unaware • Believers have different gifts • Physical body: body parts don’t change gifts don’t change • God the Spirit determines the gifts • Gifts are the manifestation of the Spirit • Gifts are received at salvation • Each believer has at least one • All gifts are important, but there is an order appointed by God

Romans 12 and I Peter 4 • Present your body as an act of worship • Minister in the area of your gifting • Spiritual gifts are beyond what is given or required of ALL believers: faith, mercy, giving…. • I Peter 4 Speaking and Serving Gifts • Speakers are to Speak the Word of God • Servers are to serve with God’s strength

Ephesians 4:1-6 • Walk/live in a manner worthy of your calling • Called to a life of holiness • Preserving the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace • I Cor. 12:25 No division in the body • “One” is repeated 7 times in verses 4-6 • One body, Spirit, hope, Lord, faith baptism, God and Father • I Cor. 12:4-6 Same, same, same

Ephesians 4:7-11 • Grace was given to all (vs. 6) • “Each one” verse 7 Contrast • Each one was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift • Verse 8 Christ ascended into heaven • Christ sent the Holy Spirit to indwell • Verse 11 speaks of the men with certain spiritual gifts: Apostles, prophets, evangelists and pastor/teachers

Why have the gifts been given? • Eph. 4:12-16 For the equipping of the saints • For the work of service • To build up the body of Christ • Until the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God • No longer children, immature • No longer tossed and carried away by deceitful doctrines of men, false teachings • So that we may grow up in ALL aspects • The body is to function in LOVE

  7. Our responsibility • Don’t be unaware • Use your gifts • Minister in the area of your gifting Why? It is all to glorify Him
