  1. Presentation PSA Mission/project/agenda Demo format (demo portion of meeting) A complete file residing on a PSA mobile device that can be taken projected onto a large screen with audio speakers o a venue and Narrator/presenter (2 people?) walks through the PPT presentation as typically done…but videos are embedded of various lengths which the presenter can play from a slide easily. Comments/ questions possibly entertained during or after presentation Followup is “meet us at a later date for more in depth” exploration/ collaboration planning. ( we don’t “give away” our proprietary stuff)

  2. 1-What is learning? • Tool: cartoon video/other showing how we learn (theory) • What it “feels” like when we learn and don’t learn • Learning is an innate capability we are born with and our chief way of relating to the world. We are always learning. • It may be formal, or informal, conscious, or unconscious, and any combination of those 4. • Learning may have different “types”, but those types have a lot in common under the hood. • Some methods of learning apply across the board • Learning is not learning if not incorporated into the person at a deep and sustained part of our selves.

  3. 2-Challenges/opportunities for online learning • NM learning deficits are an opportunity (group contains resources) • Who’s doing what internationally nationally, locally • What tools are being used • What are the challenges • Weak infrastructure for access • Cost of hardware platform • Cost of software platform • Creating the intelligent structure to activate latent resources

  4. 3-Approach for online learning • Research based • What do you need to do move forward-steps • Intelligent structure to aggregate resources • Intelligent learning apparatus to activate latent resources • Collaborative and distributed working relationships • Funding… • use slices from various ongoing projects • find NM foundation funds from outstanding grant ideas • Plans/ Timeline/ Organizing events

  5. 4-Core Concepts • Examples how to do this • Theory • See info on: • Group Collaborative Interaction • DLE • Time slices

  6. Core Concept: DLP • Core Concept: Dynamic Learning Plan (DLP) • What is a DLP? An approach to personalize a learning experience for learners before learners engage with a training or service. • Purpose of DLP? Support learners to successfully participate in agency training or services • Identify personal knowledge needs, learning styles, motivational needs before a course of training • Design a personal plan with content and discussion relevant to the learner to build on with evolving personal expertise • Monitor and support self regulation of learning • Offer an ongoing, informal, safe, collaborative learning environment • Offer solutions to personal needs such as time demands, access to learning, and language • Who are the learners? • Agency Clients needing support to successfully complete a training or service • Agency Staff supporting clients • Strategies: • Ubiquitous online access to the DLP content activities and discussion • DLP activities identify personal learning needs in a fun, informal, safe environment • DLP activities begin with safe “icebreaker” activities enabling a collaborative community feeling • The DLP is an ongoing activity (electronic portfolio) that adapts to the learner’s authentic learning needs and growing personal expertise • The DLP structures safe, relevant content into bite size activity slices providing immediate feedback • The DLP discussions encourage the emergence of content and collaboration • Outcomes: • Improved digital skills, language skills • Improved personal skills to learn and participate on own schedule • Increased learning participation and lifelong networks of learning • Increased deepening of knowledge

  7. 5- (focus group) • What are you doing with Online? • Costs, options, effectiveness , frustrations • How important? • How difficult?

  8. 6- Focus Group • Select “knowns”…group of those who know local populace from different perspectives • Leaders, Hairdressers, Restaurant Employers, Program staff, Massage people….those who know from daily experience and acutely developed perception what is “really going on with regional people in our target group” • Not selected unknowns from a group of clients made available by a friendly local program.

  9. How to follow up? • Connect to PSA website for… • Work with us to…
