  2. Climate The temperature in temperate woodland and shrubland averages to about 50 degrees and the average rainfall is 30 to 60 inches per year. They experience hot, dry summers and cold, moist winters.

  3. Main Plants There are many different plants which help make up the Temperate Woodland and Shrubland biome.  One of the plants is the cork oak tree. This tree is very large and it stays green all year long. They can be found in an area with a lot of exposure to sunlight. Cork oak trees can also live up to 150 years old. Another plant is the Acacia. This is a shrub that has small leaves on it and has an umbrella shaped top. This plant grows better in dryer conditions and can live up to 15-30 years.

  4. Main Animals There are many different animals which help make up the Temperate Woodland and Shrubland. One common animal is a bobcat. They are found most in the United States and mark there boundaries using claw marks and urinating. Bobcats resemble household cats, but are about twice the size. The ears are very distinct and are tufted. They also have long legs and large paws which easily enables them to hunt prey.  Another common animal found in this biome is the rattlesnakes. There are many found in the United States, mostly in California. Rattlesnakes are easy to recognize because of the sound their tail makes when they are about to attack, and also the appearance of their tail. They are venomous snakes and are very harmful. However, they are very interesting to look at, especially when they are attacking prey.

  5. Interesting facts All plant life is less than a meter long Leaves on the evergreen trees are small Workers strip the cork from cork oak trees Most of the animals are small and nocturnal
