  1. An explanation of how Grading in Practice is calculated. Grading in Practice team UWE May 2016

  2. The process of both Mentor & Academic Grading in Practice (GiP) assessments Both Mentor and Academic assessments in Year 3 of the students programme, contribute to the students overall mark for their practice module. Each student will sit an Academic assessment at end of Year 3, which accounts for 40% of the Practice module mark The assessment is specific to the students programme i.e Adult students – Medicines Management assessment Child students – Medicines Management & Safety presentation Mental Health students - Medications assessment Learning Disability students – Mind Map reflection on the 4 Domains of practice

  3. Grading in Practice - Mentors • Please follow guidance in Mentor Information pack given to you by students on placement at end of Year 3 • If student has passed all OAR competencies and skills, complete students final summary documenting detailed comments and examples, to justify the pass. • Then proceed to assign one grade to each of the four NMC Domains, these must be justified by the final summary evidence in the students OAR document. • The student submits the Grading in Practice page and Final summary assessment pages to UWE. • Grades are calculated within UWE

  4. Mentor Grade explanation:

  5. Worked example in Year 3: Mentor Grading in Practice: 44%+59%+66%+44% = 213 divided by 4 (domains) = 53%. 60% of mentor overall grade above, will be combined with 40% of the academic assessment grade, to give an overall mark for the practice module

  6. Questions? • Please direct any comments or questions to the respective UWE Programme Leads for Adult, Child, Mental Health or Learning Disability.
