  2. Mainframe Computers • Nick name is big iron. • used by corporate and governmental organizations. •  bulk data processing such as census, industry and consumer statistics, enterprise resource planning, and financial transaction processing. • Established in 1916.

  3. Microcomputers • They are physically small compared to mainframe  and minicomputers. • Was common during the 1970s and 1980s • a computer with a microprocessor as its central processing unit.
