  2. Theme Passage I Peter 2 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

  3. Reaching towards the Cross…. Crossview Connects Crossview Grows

  4. 1. Crossview Connects Acts 2 42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching & to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread & to prayer.

  5. 1. Crossview Connects The strength of our faith is directly linked to the strength of our connections with God and one another.

  6. 1. Crossview Connects “Yet God did not cease to pursue us. God will not settle for tarnished intimacy and feigned vulnerability. Throughout the rest of Scripture God makes various covenant relationships with us.” Alastair Bryan Sterne, “What’s the Point of Church Membership”, Relevant Magazine, Nov 4, 2011

  7. 1. Crossview Connects “He intentionally enters into a commitment-based, formalized bond with people: Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, not to mention national covenants with Israel and ultimately the New Covenant through Jesus.” Alastair Bryan Sterne, “What’s the Point of Church Membership”, Relevant Magazine, Nov 4, 2011

  8. 1. Crossview Connects “You might not like formalized commitment, but the God of Scripture does. Apparently it plays a vital role in the restoration of our intimacy with Him.” Alastair Bryan Sterne, “What’s the Point of Church Membership”, Relevant Magazine, Nov 4, 2011

  9. 1. Crossview Connects I John 1 3 that which we have seen & heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; & truly our fellowship is with the Father & with His Son Jesus Christ…

  10. 1. Crossview Connects I John 1 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, & walk in darkness, we lie & do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, & the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

  11. 1. Crossview Connects I Cor 1 9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

  12. 1. Crossview Connects I Cor 1 10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, & that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind & in the same judgment.

  13. 1. Crossview Connects Am I pursuing my connections with… God, through intimate worship, meaningful prayer & dedicated study? The fellowship of believers, by genuinely loving & caring for others?

  14. 2. Crossview Grows 2 Peter 3 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!

  15. 2. Crossview Grows Growing into the image of Christ is more than an idea, it is a pursuit. We pursue the image of Christ with our whole being, our whole time for our whole life.

  16. 2. Crossview Grows Phil 3 12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

  17. 2. Crossview Grows Phil 3 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

  18. 2. Crossview Grows “In I Timothy 4:12, Paul gives us several specific areas in which we are to model the character of Christ: ‘Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.’ Notice that maturity is not measured by one’s learning but by one’s lifestyle.” Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Church, p. 115

  19. 2. Crossview Grows Am I pursuing the image of Christ… By developing personal habits for spiritual growth? By practicing my faith on a day-to-day basis?
