A Boon or a Curse. Internet. What is the ‘Internet’?.  It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies.

What is the ‘Internet’? •  It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies. • It can also be defined as a worldwide interconnection of computers and computer networks that participate in the sharing of information among users. • The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services.

  3. Advantages • Vast Information • Resources • Email Services • Online Shopping • Chat Service

  4. Issues/Disadvantages • Theft of Personal Information • Identity Theft • Pornography • Spamming • Piracy

  5. Solutions • Theft of personal information and identity theft – can be avoided by use of multiple firewalls and by making sure that the website is secure before any personal information is inputted. • Parental Control – Can be used to stop children from visiting such sites which provide pornographic content. • Spamming could be avoided by not providing our email addresses to unsecure websites. • Digital Piracy could be avoided by issuing a law against it and fining people for use of such service. It should be declared as a crime.

  6. Stakeholders • In this situation, the stakeholders will be the people affected directly or indirectly by the internet or involved in the use of internet. • This includes the users, engineers, software designers, Entertainment industry, etc.
